Reaper Kickstarter

If you haven't checked out the best deal in gaming yet, now is the time! Reaper's Kickstarter has only hours left. Check out the below bonus goal:
This group of vile dark wizards make excellent Character miniatures, or enemy miniatures, whether as bosses or low level wizards to fight! And like the Golems, they're a Bonus!
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!

We are going old school for this next goal. Every Vampire or Undertaker Level pledge will receive Frog God Games pdf of Swords & Wizardry Complete Rules. Play the game the way it was meant to be played... Original edition rules, original edition feel. Put those miniatures to work in this award winning game.

Hold on to your hats, Boneheads, we're counting down by hours now and moving faster than ever!

Fans of Swords & Wizardry!

Dear Frog God,

Here I am preparing an adventure using the Swords & Wizardry White Box edition hardcover, the Swords & Wizardry Monster Book 0e Reloaded book, along with all the other gaming accouterments, such as original low-impact polyhedral dice with the numbers colored in by wax crayons, miniatures from the 1970s through the 1990s, and a gaming mat with a dungeon drawn by my sons.

Proudly supporting the Kickstarter,
Walter

I just taught my cousin and his friends to play Swords & Wizardry. Not only have they never played it, this is their first RPG experience. It was a huge success. I told them about the Kickstarter project and they're all going to contribute. Sorry about the pic quality. Keep up the good work. I love that game.
-Adam

Our week started and ends with swords and wizardry! After exploring the demon statue and stirge cave our new group of heroes finds themselves trapped (and lost!) in the Demons Gullet! Having a great time with S&W... six new players enjoy the game!
-Jim

Hello S&W people. I'm an old school guy having started playing RPGs in 1977. Swords & Wizardry really keeps up the tradition of fun. Anyhow here is a photo our most recent S&W game. The party has finally found the way to Hecate's altar but a Gibbering Mouther and some Gray oozes are in the way.  Most of the figures themselves and the terrible paint jobs are 30 years old.

Sincerely, Mike Case

Let's get Started! Here is a pic of the game table.

Another Endorsement For S&W

Check it out, Erik Mona (Paizo Publishing) bought his copy of Swords & Wizardry long before the Kickstarter!

Jon Hershberger (President, Black Blade Publishing ) pictured above with Erik says, “Swords & Wizardry is a fun, fun game. It captures both the spirit and the substance of the original rules, from the days when the role-playing hobby was about the wonder and mystery of the unknown, and not about rules complexity and endless rules expansions, while presenting those rules in a way that is both better organized and more easily digested than the original. In far fewer pages than most ‘current edition’ role-playing games, Swords & Wizardry gives you all the rules needed to launch and enjoy an immersive fantasy role-playing campaign, much in the way the hobby’s founders did at the dawn of the hobby. And in so doing, the game casts off 30 years of “innovations” and “improvements”, giving the reader a purer, rawer, more robust game system with which to mold to ones liking. It’s great to see Swords & Wizardry gaining the kind of widespread acceptance that it has since its initial release four years ago. For my own gaming pursuits, Swords & Wizardry is one of only a couple game systems I ever consider running, whether that is for extended, campaign-based gaming or one-off games for convention play.”

Keep spreading the word, sharing with friends & family, and getting others involved!

Here is our first entry! Thank you Jim

"Swords and Wizardry week started early (or really late!) last night for us - technically in the week though!

I introduced four new players to the system and it went off without a hitch!  The players ages ranged from 9 (my son) to 45.  The group delved into Akruels tomb as first level characters - hot on the heels of a magic user by the name of Rayne - little did they know, the vile mage knows more of the tombs history than most!

After five hours of play the group vanquished the skeletons and water elemental in Akruels tomb, only to find their nemesis gone - and the Scepter of Faiths broken.  Plus, the death priest himself released!  The group had so much fun, we'll be doing it again soon.  Hopefully this Saturday!

Thanks for a great game - can't wait to introduce these guys to Rappan Athuk!!!
-Jim

"Just a little disagreement at the table...

My group and I play a Wilderlands campaign, and today there was some grumbling about the paucity of treasure. However, cooler heads prevailed, and later I killed them all."

We have contracted with a logo design artist to create an icon image for our patch and will be posting that as soon as we have the image designed and approved.

In More Exciting News, we will be setting up a donation from this Kickstarter to the Gygax Memorial Fund based on the number of books sold. We will start the donation out at $1 per book sold and increase from there. We are working now to get the scale up. More to come on this!

Swords & Wizardry Kickstarter

Return to the Original Rules...

Swords & Wizardry Complete RulebookLet’s do some time traveling: its 1974 and you’re in Lake Geneva. You just started playing a brand-new fantasy roleplaying game, and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Flash forward to 2012, and oh, no! This is a dystopian future where new versions of the rules have gotten too complicated to pick up in fifteen minutes, and the original rules aren’t even affordable any more. What’s a gamer to do?? As a couple of thousand old-school players have already discovered since 2008, there’s a solution. This is where you come in.

Frog God Games will reprint the ENnie-Award Winning Swords & Wizardry Complete Rules and put into distribution at brick and mortar game stores. This reprint will be a highly durable hardcover with stitched signature binding - a binding that can survive the Cheeto-filled, Mountain Dew splashed battlezone that is a true gaming table. PLUS we are going to print the long awaited second printing of the Monster Book with NEW ART and MORE monsters!

If you already play Swords & Wizardry, it’s the quality of the book that’s going to knock your socks off. If you don’t already play Swords & Wizardry, then this book is your ticket to what the oldest of old school gaming was (and still is) all about. For a beginning gamer the simplicity is perfect; but Swords & Wizardry really shows its stuff in the hands of experienced gamers. The essential core of the game is described in the book, but what makes the 1974 version of the game different is that it is highly customizable for each individual gaming table. In fact, the book describes several of the most common variations on the major rules. So your group can pick it up and play immediately (using the default rules as described), and as the campaign develops, choose to vary or add to the rules using the option “modules” that are in here.

The ‘70s was a decade of freaky improvisation, weird fantasy, and rebellion. And that’s Swords & Wizardry. If that’s how you roll, all the rest is just details. As we’ve said since 2008: The Original Game is so powerful because it is encapsulated in a small formula, like a genie kept imprisoned in the small compass of an unremarkable lamp. Take this framework, and then imagine the hell out of it!

Where do you come in?

We at Frog God Games are giving you early adopters a unique opportunity to be a part of roleplaying game history. In cooperation with Kickstarter.com, your generous pledges will help bring in enough funds to distribute Swords & Wizardy Complete Rules to brick and mortar game stores!

Your pledges could yield the following treasures:
  • Your name at the back of the book
  • Introductory Module
  • GM Screen
  • Bound, signature stitched Rules Book (textbook bound for a lifetime of durability)
  • Bound, signature stitched Monster Book
  • Pad of Character Sheets
  • A Full Set of Custom Dice
  • The Black Monastery Adventure Book
  • The Tome of Horrors Complete
  • Genuine Leather-Bond Rules Book
  • Start Pledging Now!

Why do a Kickstarter?

Kickstarter allows us to raise the funds to print the mass quantity needed for distribution. It also allows us to create more projects we wouldn't otherwise be able to like the Monster Book with new art, lairs, and encounters. When the project is funded, we deliver! If the project is not funded, no one pays and the project does not come to fruition. It is imperative that you tell us loud and clear you want Swords & Wizardry Complete Rulesbook by pledging today. Pledges act as pre-orders - start pledging now!

Since Kickstarter is a unique platform for funding concrete projects it has allowed us to bring the project directly to the fans and give you what you want. As we raise funds for this project we would like to continue to hear your feedback on future bonus goals for items you would like to see.
